Located about 8 miles east of Woodburn, OR, the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm offers an extensive 40-acre springtime display of tulip blooms. Varieties flower at various times from mid-March to early May, with individual fields forming blocks of solid color, and the entire panoply a landscape of contrasting colors.
Tethered hot air balloon rides are available, taking viewers 75 feet up for nice panoramas ($20, weather-dependent). A number of steam tractors are typically on display and offer periodic demonstrations. There are food vendors on-site.
The farm is located roughly 50 miles north of the conference site (LBCC). Travel time is about one hour each way. Those arriving from the north on I-5 can plan their travel to arrive at the farm in time for our 1 PM entry and then continue on to Albany after the outing.
We have arranged a group entry rate for the outing, which is covered by the $10 fee you paid during on-line registration. We need to enter as a group at 1 PM, so you should plan to arrive at the farm by 12:30 to allow time to meet up with the group and sign a waiver of liability for NPPNW. Note that anyone arriving after the group has entered will need to purchase their own individual ticket for entry. This is a rain or shine event and there are no refunds once a member has registered for the tour.
Following the outing, you will be able to send up to three of your photos to the organizer for inclusion in a slide show to be shared during the Saturday meeting.
